YOUR INTRODUCTION TO THE PRO CARD
Creating your own ratings and adding notes
As a subscriber you can create your own ratings then view them on the pro card and compare against the official handicapping system in order to exploit potential discrepancies.
The postdata table presents key information about all runners, taking the jockey and trainer into account.
These tables show ratings for all runners and highlight how well they have perviously performed on the ground, over the distance and in recent runs.
Select the settings button to toggle on and off certain items on the Pro Card.
Once you have selected a race and are on the racecard, select the Pro Card tab if you are not already on it.

There are lots of options to choose from, this help page will explain what they are and how to make the most of them.
Once you are familiar with the various settings you can decide what is displayed by default every time you open the Pro Card.
You can choose from a variety of formats for individual races or the entire card.
They are all replicas of what you'd find in the newspaper, making this is an ideal feature if you prefer to study the form using traditional newspaper style cards.
It's also useful if you plan to mark up the PDFs either digitally or by printing them.
A short written summary from our experts is available for all runners, these are known as Spotlight Comments.
Head to the bottom of the Pro Card to find the spotlight verdict. This is a final write up summarising the Racing Post experts' key choices for the race.
These quotes come direct from the Racing Post via interviews and our seasonal Stable Tours series, where we go behind the scenes of various trainers - covering all the big names and the smaller yards.
Nobody knows their horses better than the training staff, and sometimes they reveal information that cannot be obtained via a racecard.
Turn on My Ratings to display your ratings alongside the Official Rating (if you have one set for each horse).
Your rating will be adjusted based on the weight penalty the runner has been assigned.
The maximum penalty for jumps racing is 12 stone (10 stone for flat), the difference is added to your rating.
In the example above, Bourbali is 6 pounds under the 12 stone maximum so our rating increases from 123 to 129.
Once you have built up a database of your own ratings it is easy to begin comparing against the official rating to spot and exploit potential discrepancies that may benefit you.
Delve further by selecting the year to open up the results from that race and see further information such as the going.
You could also watch back the replay or read an analysis by our expert handicappers.
